Sam Holt (born 1986) is a Gadigal/Sydney-based artist whose multidisciplinary expanded painting practice spans painting, sculpture, drawing, photography and installation.
His practice speaks to the ever-shifting landscape of memory and, in turn, the ever-changing lens through which we view it. Examining the human experience through varying degrees of abstraction, his performative and expressive landscapes of self attempt to translate the nuanced spectrum of intangibles that oscillate through his thoughts in their entirety, from the subtle to the dramatic and the unrecognisably abstract unknown.
Selected projects include International Public Art Awards 2023 Shortlisted Finalist (Top 35 in the World), They Should Make an App for This Shit, the Possibilities Are Endless, Artereal Gallery, 2022; Paddington Art Prize Finalist, 2017 and 2021; Churchie Emerging Art Prize Finalist, 2016; and Winner of the Marten Bequest Travelling Art Scholarship (Painting), 2016.
Public collections include Artbank, Servcorp Canberra and Sydney, The Ritz-Carlton Melbourne, and others.
