Lachlan Willix & Lucas Allen

Lachlan Willix Design and Lucas are designers and makers whose practices are grounded in environmental responsibility, material honesty and thoughtful production.

Operating alongside full-time architectural work, Lachlan Willix Design explores reuse, craft and bio-based design through making. Working primarily with timber and reclaimed materials, the practice uses furniture as a testing ground for ideas around circularity, material honesty and low-impact production.

Designing through making is central to the process. Hands-on experimentation, prototyping and fabrication are used to understand materials, test construction methods and allow the making process itself to inform outcomes. Working directly with materials, particularly reused and salvaged resources, creates opportunities for unexpected forms, details and construction techniques to emerge.

Lucas is a designer, maker and graduate of Architecture whose work revolves around a consciousness of environmental impacts. He works with natural, local and reclaimed materials with the aim of minimising human impacts on the broader and local environment while designing functional and lasting objects, spaces and places.
