Western Australia is a quiet wonderland of potters’ clay. From the rich red earth of the coastal plains to the mottled white kaolin of the ranges, the ground beneath our feet offers a generous palette to those who work with their hands.
Through my exploration of the landscape and practical experimentation, I aim to awaken this remarkable natural material and develop a deeper connection with my craft. In doing so, I hope to enrich the experience of ceramics and inspire others.
The work draws on the Japanese aesthetic tradition, with unevenness, finger marks and glaze movement retained as evidence of the hand and the kiln.
