Emma Lindegaard is an artist based in Walyalup / Fremantle, working in sculpture and painting. Her ceramic objects are built entirely by hand using the coiling method and minimal tools, over a number of days. This process allows for thoughtful modification of shape, texture and balance.
Her sculptural practice has expanded in recent years to incorporate assemblage in the form of totemic candle holders, crafted from wood, glass and clay. Beyond her 3-dimensional work, Emma has developed an abstract painting practice which explores colour and texture through processes of layering and erasure.
Emma’s work explores emotion as a stored memory/shape in the body. Through the artist’s daily ritualistic exploration of her environment, external experiences alchemise with the internal. These experiences inform the push and pull that presents in Emma’s works; between the ostensibly human and the natural/environmental.
