10 years on from its inception and Spacemarket has been on a journey!
Projects, people, places – we’ve visioned for nearly every dusty, vacant space in town (getting inside them has been a different story). But now it’s time to look back over the last decade and reflect on who we’ve become – and how best to express ourselves moving forward.
Enter Mark Braddock and Tanya Sim from Block – who have taken our work and our values and created a fresh new identity for the brand. This takes place alongside our recent appointment of architect, Joel Benichou, as Spacemarket director, alongside Sarah Booth – building upon the incredible legacy of Spacemarket founders Nic Brunsdon and Beth George, and key contributors Kate Hulett and Emma Benichou.
We’d love to share the new brand story and hope you can celebrate it with us following. We’ll also be popping a bottle alongside Emma Pegrum and Bec Stawell Wilson of Mess Books, and Nic Brunsdon as they turn the page on ‘(This is) Air’, the documenting publication of Nic’s recent NGV commission.

Spacemarket is an urban-renewal organisation connected to some of the most vibrant people and places in WA. We inject life back into urban spaces by consulting with building owners and property developers to fill their otherwise vacant spaces with creative and connected communities. This, in turn, helps to sustainably rebuild a sense of place, both culturally and economically.
Founded on April 1, 2002, Block is the love child of (formerly) globe-trotting creative couple Tanya Sim and Mark Braddock. From its less-than-salubrious beginnings in Mark’s parents’ poolroom, Block has grown into Western Australia’s first full-service brand-first agency delivering strategic creative advertising and design outcomes. Since inception, Block has stayed true to Mark and Tanya’s founding ambition to produce communications that are at once exciting and sensible. Block is committed to thinking big and delivering bigger; to crafting solutions that extend naturally from the personality of its clients’ businesses, services, and products.
