From Lawn to Living – A Native Verge Walking Tour SOLD OUT

with Valley Verges

Since 2019, Valley Verges has redesigned 5000sqm of verge plots in White Gum Valley for biodiversity, people and planet – almost 15,000 plants in the ground and over 350 everyday people joining their community-led movement.

On this walking tour, co-founders Dave Broun and Tim Frodsham, along with volunteer committee members, lead an immersive two-hour walk through the valley, with a show-and-tell at some of Valley Verges’ flagship demonstration projects. From plant selection to verge layout and hands-on community action, you’ll see how design shapes every part of turning a patch of lawn into a revegetated native ecosystem full of life.

A long neighbourhood walk needs a reward – tickets include snacks and beverages at Sullivan Hall after the tour.

Things to know:

  • The tour will start and end at Sullivan Hall, 2 Nannine Ave, White Gum Valley.
  • Wear good walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing, and bring a water bottle.
  • Tickets $30 or $20 concession plus booking fees.
  • Snacks and light refreshments included after the tour.

Valley Verges
A community-led, volunteer-run initiative based in White Gum Valley, Valley Verges transform suburban verge spaces – those underutilised strips of land between footpaths and roads – into thriving native biodiversity gardens. Through practical workshops, habitat infrastructure and grassroots participation, Valley Verges shows how communities can regenerate local ecosystems, support endangered species and combat the climate crisis at a local scale.
