JBA Open Studio & Creative Practice Research
with Josh Byrne & Associates and Associate Professor Urs Bette
Join us for an evening exploring the relationship between professional practice and research, featuring Associate Professor Urs Bette.
How can practice itself be a mode of research? Associate Professor Urs Bette will introduce Creative Practice Research as a framework for investigating questions through practice: designing, making, testing, and reflecting. Drawing on examples from architectural practice, the talk will explore how creative work can generate new knowledge while remaining connected to the realities of everyday professional practice. It will also introduce Curtin University’s Creative Practice PhD and the Graduate Research Exchange (GRX) as supportive frameworks for practitioners seeking to deepen their inquiry, critically develop their work, and extend its disciplinary impact.
The talk is followed by a panel discussion and questions. Before the talk, explore JBA’s open studio, and chat with their team about how they integrate research and practice.
