Makers’ Film Festival 2026

presented by Maker & Smith

The 2026 edition of the Makers’ Film Festival (MFF26) is an international short film festival focused on craft and design – makers, making and materials. Selected from a worldwide call-out, the final set of 12 films spans a wide variety of genres and practices, from fashion to bell-making, embroidered stop animation to ceramics, knitting, AI and green technologies, to name a few.

The 2026 edition of the MFF features twelve films, eleven countries, one obsession: making with our hands.

A knitter weaponises superstition to end a relationship. A master craftsman hand-builds lion heads in Kuala Lumpur that carry faith across generations. Bollywood miscreants rescue WA’s endangered animals, stitched entirely in embroidered stop-motion. Bell-makers in Gujarat forge sound into signature. Grain silos become an 80-metre canvas for clay and projected story.
