Raised in the coastal town of Izmir, Turkey, Beste Ogan brings a rich sensory heritage to her work, inspired by the crystal-clear waters, white pebbly beaches, and luscious cuisine of the Aegean. Now based in South Fremantle, she creates tactile porcelain tableware that elevates the dining experience, aiming to extend the joy of good food to all five senses.
Using slipcast porcelain, Beste captures granular details, from the mimicry of leathered surfaces to the marbled effects reminiscent of windswept beaches. Each piece is designed to bring moments of joy, whether sipping morning coffee or connecting over a home-cooked meal. Beste believes our homes are retreats from the world, and her work seeks to enrich these personal spaces.
