Freewheeling Freo

with West Australian Historical Cycle Club

Pedal through Freo’s past, one stop at a time.

Join us for a guided ride through Fremantle’s rich cycling history, starting near Fremantle Station and rolling out across roughly 8km of flat, easy-paced streets. This isn’t a ride for speed – it’s one for stories, so we’ve built in plenty of chatty stops along the way.

At each stop, a member of the West Australian Historical Cycle Club (WAHCC) will share a short, fascinating snapshot of Freo’s two-wheeled past, paired with an image pulled from the basket of a restored Fremantle Ports Authority delivery bike. Beyond the history, you’ll also get a firsthand look at the good, the bad and the occasionally baffling side of Fremantle’s urban design and active transport today.

The route takes in some quieter roads, and you’ll be well looked after throughout, with WAHCC members in high-vis riding at the front and back of the group.

Bring your bike, bring your curiosity and come see Freo through a different set of wheels.

West Australian Historical Cycle Club
We like bikes with character, and characters with bikes. Founded in 1999 the WA Historical Cycle Club aims to bring together cyclists, historians and collectors and fosters an interest in bicycles of historic interest. Bikes represented in members’ collections range from the mid 19th century up to the present day. The club meets regularly and hosts ride days, workshops and static display exhibitions. Our members maintain registers of WA built bikes and notable WA riders.
