Australia produces world-class natural fibres yet manufactures very little clothing. At the same time, new technologies in traceability, fibre innovation, automation and circular design are reshaping textile industries around the world.
Join Anastasia Gazis, CEO Aeiphoria and Dominic D’Silva, textile ontologist, for a live conversation exploring how these global developments might converge into a new vision for Australia’s textile future. Through examples including Australian cotton, Eqwools, Textile Ontology Systems, digital traceability, advanced manufacturing and circular recovery pathways, the discussion will reveal how seemingly disconnected innovations can become part of one connected ecosystem.
Rather than presenting a finished solution, this session invites designers, makers, researchers and industry professionals into an open conversation about the opportunities emerging when fibres, manufacturing, technology and circular systems are viewed as one interconnected whole.

Anastasia Gazis
Anastasia Gazis is a social and environmental entrepreneur rethinking how we make, use and value clothing. She began in fashion design with her own organic label in the 1990s, then moved into fashion education, teaching design, patternmaking and garment construction. With a background in Behavioural Science, her work has shifted from designing garments to designing systems for change – connecting people, businesses, technology and natural resources. She founded the Slow Fashion Hub in Fremantle, a community space for repair, reuse and creative learning, and is CEO of Aeiphoria, exploring new pathways for Australian fibres, manufacturing, traceability and circular textile systems.
Dominic D’Silva
Dominic D’Silva is a Textile Ontologist with over 25 years of international experience across textile manufacturing, product development and global supply chains, including extensive work throughout India. His focus has shifted toward next-generation textile systems – fibre innovation, digital traceability, Industry 4.0 and the infrastructure needed for circular textile economies. He’s currently collaborating with Aeiphoria to develop Textile Ontology Systems (TOS), digital infrastructure supporting trusted fibre provenance and chain of custody. Working across Australia, Europe and India, Dominic believes the future of textiles lies in intelligent systems that connect fibres, products, technologies and people.
Slow Fashion Hub
The Slow Fashion Hub is a creative community space in the heart of Fremantle where people of all ages come together to learn, make, repair and reimagine clothing. Through hands-on workshops, shared skills and reclaimed materials, we help people discover the joy of making while extending the life of textiles that might otherwise become waste. Whether you’re picking up a needle for the first time or rediscovering a forgotten skill, the Hub is a welcoming place to connect, create and be inspired. Our workshops celebrate creativity, resourcefulness and the value of making things by hand, proving that fashion can be fun, practical and community-driven. We invite everyone to experience a different way of thinking about clothing—one that values creativity, craftsmanship and giving materials a second life.
