Bukeshla Pakenham Street Open Studio

with Tricia Bygott / Bukeshla

Visit the West End studio of Fremantle fashion label Bukeshla.

The Pakenham Street warehouse space is an extension of the Bukeshla shop and atelier in Wray Avenue, started by artist and textile artist Trish Bygott and business partner Nathan in 2009.

Pakenham Street has been specifically established as the home for Trish’s workshop series, which focus on contemporary, hand-stitched embroidery techniques and related design principles.

This is an opportunity to see inside a beautiful Fremantle space filled with equally beautiful textiles and clothing. Pop in for a visit and a chat with Trish.

Tricia Bygott

Tricia studied textile design in the early eighties in Melbourne, and it is this foundation, and the following 40 years of practising her craft, that inform the scope of her making and teaching.

With business partner Nathan, she turns her passion for cloth into living garments as Bukeshla, operating from a small atelier on Wray Avenue in Fremantle.

Workshops, held in a new dedicated space on Pakenham Street, extend the great juggle – in the spirit of sharing her knowledge, in recognition of the power of people coming together with needle, thread and cloth.

About Bukeshla

Fremantle-based label Bukeshla is built around the artisanal and the beautiful, working from the belief that how a garment feels on the body shapes how a person moves through the world.

Working with natural materials, every piece is created with care, from cutting through to hand-sewn buttons and finishing, an approach the team holds as a way of bringing presence and attention to work that mass production leaves behind.

Sustainability, for Bukeshla, sits in method – in the intention carried through each stage of making, which they believe can be felt by the wearer.

The label’s designs draw on classic, timeless roots while continuing to reinvent itself, with original hand-stitched details setting the work apart.
