East Village at Knutsford: a climate-positive development tour
presented by DevelopmentWA, Josh Byrne & Associates, City of Fremantle, OP Properties and Hillam Architects
What does a world-leading, climate-positive development look like and how is its performance measured?
Join the designers, the developers and the dreamers for a walking tour of East Village, one of WA’s most sustainable infill developments.
On this tour you will learn about precinct-scale initiatives that are helping to achieve dramatic reductions in carbon emissions and transition to a more sustainable future.
Recognised as a One Planet Living® Global Leader, East Village at Knutsford is an innovation-through-demonstration project by DevelopmentWA. The 1.5-hectare former industrial site in Fremantle is now a prime residential estate, connected to the wider precinct by a unique landscape.
Comprising 36 town homes and two apartment sites, it includes the just-completed Montreal Commons, one of the first carbon-neutral apartment buildings in Australia.
You’ll see how emerging technologies, such as a precinct-scale battery on a private network, sit alongside rigorous, integrated architecture and landscape design that optimises the performance of the built environment.
Innovative water management, energy and planting strategies will be detailed, outlining the environmental and social benefits and how they create welcoming, walkable streets.
This event is for built environment professionals, developers and decision-makers, as well as anyone with an interest in making cities better for people and the planet.
Design professionals can earn 2 informal CPD points (AIA, AILA).
Multi-event discount
A 15% discount is available when you also book to attend the Fremantle Design Week Designing Cities Symposium in the afternoon (2 informal CPD points). Together, the two events make a valuable day of professional learning and development.
